This project consists of the semi-permanent installation of five (5) new, 3,000 SF above-ground, metal, gable roof-type pre-manufactured steel weather shelter structures with a Lightning Protection System (LPS) capable of safely sheltering-in-place up to 330 OCS personnel from approaching inclement weather; reducing or eliminating the present practice of evacuations and re-mobilization of OCS personnel when thunderstorms and/or lightning approaches within 10 nautical miles of the Marine Corps Air Facility and/or OCS (T-10 Protocol); effectively increasing allotted field training time for OCS candidates and reducing OCS field training scheduling slip.
